It has been a privilege to serve as your Member of Parliament since the last federal election in the fall of 2019. None of us could have predicted what has turned out to be a difficult year and a half, and that we would be in the midst of a pandemic and facing many challenges and heightened social disadvantages.
I have been at the doors hearing from you Edmonton Centre, and many have expressed anger and frustration at the health care system, as well as shared their struggles with mental health. That is why the Conservative Party of Canada has developed a plan to secure health and mental health for all.
We have committed to massively boosting health transfers to the provinces by at least 6% annually. This represents 60 billion more dollars for health care over the next 10 years, doubling the Liberal commitment.
Simply put, this means more money will be put into Alberta’s health care system under a federal Conservative government.
That means more money for hospital beds, more money for long-term care, and more money for mental health
A federal Conservative government will make sure that Alberta has the resources it needs to provide the top-tier health care Albertans deserve, as well as work with the provincial government to ensure that investing in mental health is a priority. Mental health was a serious issue long before the COVID pandemic, and after a year of restrictions and isolation, it is important now more than ever to make mental health a priority.
I would like to share with you my hopes for the future, and those hopes include a federal Conservative government that will work with Alberta to deliver high-quality health care for all.
This election will be a choice between more of the same or a federal Conservative government that will work for you.
We have developed a plan that recognizes the importance of a strong Alberta, and I ask for your support as we work to execute on this plan so I can have the opportunity to ensure a better future for all.
